The Administrative Hearing for the Salt Lake City Planning Division was held remotely on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m. Mayara Lima, Zoning Administrator, was present as the Administrative Hearing Officer and called the meeting to order.
Mayara Lima, Administrative Hearing Officer reviewed the hearing procedures including the boundaries of her duties. She then introduced the first conditional use request that was to be reviewed.
1. Conditional Use for SLCMAD Heliport at approximately 2215 N 2200 W - Greg Beecher, representing the Local Building Authority of the Salt Lake City Mosquito Abatement (property owner), is requesting approval for a Conditional Use to develop a heliport located at above listed address. Currently the land is used for Salt Lake City Mosquito Abatement District's operations and is zoned BP (Business Park). Ben Buckley reviewed the petition as outlined in the Staff Report (located in the case file).
The applicant Greg Beecher stated that they have been doing their due diligence to be compliant with all regulations.
Mayara Lima, Administrative Hearing officer opened the public hearing.
Brian Moench stated their concerns for noise pollution and the spraying of pesticides.
Seeing no one else wished to speak, Mayara Lima closed the public hearing.
Ary Faraji elaborated on the concerns of the public comments, specifically the spraying of chemicals.
Greg Beecher stated that the noise pollution would not be greater than the neighboring airport.
Motion
Mayara Lima, Administrative Hearing officer stated, 'Based on the information presented and discussion, I approve petition PLNPCM2023-00978 and grant a conditional use at approximately 2215 N 2200 W with the condition that the applicant will provide proof that all product used is permitted by the appropriate authorities.'
There being no further business, the Administrative Hearing was adjourned at approximately 5:15 PM.
