3. Judy Downs reviewed the meeting attended by her, Mayor Wood, and Dave Lee on Thursday, January 11, 2024, with Seth Tait, the Town Attorney. This meeting was get advice on how to handle numerous code violations in Amalga. P&Z has been trying to come up with a way to not only address the code violations, but to determine if perhaps some of the code needs to be changed to address changing conditions. Seth gave us several possible solutions: legal is one solutions, civil is another. Seth also suggested a 'community workshop' to find out what the people of the town want. It was also discussed that the town code allows for changes, and the P&Z commission believes these changes should be offered up as amendments by the town's people. They would then be presented at public hearings for further consideration and action. Everyone liked the idea of a community work shop. It was recommended that each member of the board bring two items to the next meeting to be included in a letter sent out to every member of the town explaining what is happening, i.e. we have violations to the town code, here are some of them, along with the statutes that are being violated. What do you as a town want P&Z to do?
It was decided to try and have a letter ready to be sent out in April and to have a meeting in late April.
