NOTICE OF ELECTION TO ALL EMERY COUNTY RESIDENTS I, Brenda D. Tuttle, Clerk/Auditor of Emery County, hereby inform you that candidates are to be elected for the following offices at the upcoming General Election to be held Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The Declaration of Candidacy filing period for qualified political party candidates begins on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 and ends at 5:00 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2024, and; the Declaration of Candidacy filing period for state and local school board candidates begins on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 and ends at 5:00 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2024, and; the Declaration of Candidacy filing period for justices and judges of a court of record begins Monday, July 1, 2024 and ends at 5:00 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2024, and; the Declaration of Intent to Gather Signatures period for qualified political party candidates begins on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 and ends at 5:00 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2024, and; candidates must submit nomination petition signatures no later than 14 days before the day on which the qualified political party holds it convention to select candidates for the elective office. 1. Federal (a) U.S. President and Vice President. These positions will be elected for a four (4) year term. (b) U.S. Senate. One (1) Senator for a six (6) year term. ( c) U.S. House of Representatives. One Representative for a two (2) year term from the Third Congressional District. The Third District consists of Carbon, Daggett, Duchesne, Emery, Grand, San Juan, Uintah, and Wasatch Counties as well as portions of Salt Lake, Summit, and Utah Counties. 2. State (a) State Executive (1) Governor for a four (4) year term. (2) Lieutenant Governor for a four (4) year term. (3) Attorney General for a four (4) year term. (4) State Auditor for a four (4) year term. (5) State Treasurer for a four (4) year term. (b) State Senate One member of the State Senate District twenty-six (26) for a four (4) year term. District twenty-six (26) consists of Carbon, Emery, Grand, San Juan, and Wasatch Counties and portions of Garfield, Kane, Utah, and Wayne Counties. (c) State House of Representatives. One member of the Utah House of Representatives from each of the seventy-five (75) state legislative districts for a two (2) year term. Those affecting Emery County are: (1) District (67) Sixty-seven is located in Carbon County and portions of Duchesne and Emery Counties. (2) District (69) Sixty-nine is located in Garfield, Grand, Kane, San Juan, and Wayne Counties and a portion of Emery County. 3. County ( a) County Commissioners. One (1) for a four year term. ( b) County Assessor. One (1) for a four year term. ( c) County Treasurer/Recorder. One (1) for a four year term. 4. School Boards (a) Local School Board. One member from each of the following districts to serve a four (4) year term on the Emery County School District Board. (1) School Board District One (1) consists of voting precincts: Ferron #2, Ferron #3, and Clawson #4. (2) School Board District Two (2) consists of voting precincts: Orangeville #5, and Castle Dale West #6. (3) School Board District Three (3) consists of voting precincts :Castle Dale East #7, Huntington East #8. 5. Judicial Supreme Court. There will be a retention election for one (1) Supreme Court Judge, provided that the incumbent whose term is expiring files during the filing period. Court of Appeals. There will be a retention election for one (1) Court of Appeals Judges, provided that the incumbent(s) whose term is expiring files during the filing period. District Court.
