Garfield County Library Board Meeting
AUGUST 3, 2023, AT 7:00 PM
The Garfield County Board meeting was at the Panguitch City Library at 25 South 200 East.
Those in attendance were Suzanne Dunham, Verlaine Spencer, Lyle Talbot, Kathy Peterson, Tracy Wright, Evan Boshell, and Tyrissa Howell.
CALL TO ORDER
Suzanne Dunham called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Evan Boshell moved, seconded by Tracy Wright to approve the minutes. The motion passed with all in favor.
LIBRARIAN REPORTS
Suzanne Dunham reported that it is time to update the bylaws and strategic plan.
Verlaine Spencer reported that summer reading had 87 participants with 25 to 30 participants showing up each week. The theme was 'Better Together.' Winter story time will be on Mondays beginning in September.
Lyle Talbot stated that the bookmobile will be getting a new wrap. Kids are still using the bookmobile, but adult patrons are slowing down.
BOARD BUSINESS
The bylaws and strategic planning are due to be updated. The technology plan will be a new requirement in the next year. The internet policy and collection development all need to be updated soon. The board discussed changes they would like to make.
There was a conversation on the need for new board members. The board had questions about how many members the board should have and what is required for a quorum. Lyle Talbot said he would investigate how other small libraries run their board.
The State of Utah will be providing a new website for the library.
SETTING OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting is set for August 24th at 7 p.m.

Tracy Wright moved, seconded by Lyle Talbot to adjourn at 8:07 PM.
