BOARD REPORTS
Committee Updates
- Time Capsule: Katie presented that it has been decided the time capsule will be sealed
on the day of the grand opening of city hall, June 29, 2023. All items submitted up to
this point have been cataloged and tagged into past perfect. There is still time to add
any additional items if needed.
- Park Centennial: Laurie updated that they are still trying to gather more pictures. She
has received about 40 pictures from one elderly lady as well as a 6-page story of park
memories from Mark Christensen. Katie suggested having a booth for the museum at
the Arbor Day event to talk about the history of Murray Park and the role that Arbor Day
played in developing the park and printing an in-house program with approximately 10
pages to include a brief introduction on each section that can be handed out. Lori
requested information given to Katie by the end of March. This will give Lori time to get
the necessary permissions.
- Oral Histories: Laurie and Rowan went to visit Shirley Crocker, a long-time Murray
resident to make a recording and gather some history about her family's experiences
with the city and Murray Park.

STAFF REPORTS
- Museum: Rowan reported that she is packing and moving a lot of items over to the
mansion from the long-term storage. The museum will stay open for the rest of this
month and close in April so she can start packing up exhibits. This month's archive for
the Utah Preservation Collections webinar is going to be on March 16, 2023, and it is
going to be about collections moving.
Rowan was supposed to meet with the Abbington last Wednesday, but it was canceled
due to the snow and has been rescheduled for April 18, at 1 pm. We will be having our
last school tour in the current city hall on Monday with Liberty.
- Cemetery Tours: School tours will begin on May 9-11 to include storytelling, activities,
and teaching proper cemetery etiquette. This year we have five tours including four
second-grade classes and one fourth-grade class. This is an increase of two more tours
than we had last year.
- Mansion: Lori updated us that we now have our building permit and are holding a
preconstruction meeting tomorrow morning. Any help the board can provide to help
move would be greatly appreciated.
- City Hall: Grand opening will be held on June 29 beginning at 4:00 to include fun
activities for the community. Lori would like to do an open house at the mansion that
night as well and asked if the board could volunteer with someone in each room to give
a short tutorial on what each of the rooms will be and give out taffy and dressing in
costumes if they choose to.
- Time Capsule: Already discussed
BUSINESS
- Preliminary Book: Already discussed
- Accessions: One item was received from Kirk Erickson who brought Rowan in a very large
and heavy ceramic bedpan. Rowan mentioned possibly adding this to the 'what is this
display' as most people will not recognize what this is. Rebecca motioned to accession
this; Laurie seconded. All voted unanimously to include this in the collection.
OTHER
No other items to discuss
