Notice of Public Hearing on the Utah Social Media Regulation Act Rule
NOTICE OF HEARING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, a public hearing will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am by the Utah Department of Commerce's Division of Consumer Protection to receive public comment regarding the proposed rule for the Utah Social Media Regulation Act.
The published rule is intended to specify how social media companies must conduct age verification, get parental consent for minors, and ensure users' data privacy on their platforms.
The meeting will be held in person at the State Capitol Senate Building in room 220, Salt Lake City, Utah, while also providing access via Zoom to participate in the hearing. Persons interested and present will, within the limits of the scheduled hearing, have an opportunity to be heard. Those unable to provide comments at the hearing can submit them at socialmedia.utah.gov.
All comments received through any source are shared with the Division of Consumer Protection and will be added to the public record. The public comment period shall run through Friday, February 5, 2024.
