Portage Town Council Meeting Wednesday, Sept 13, 2023 Portage Town Hall 25880 N 9000 W Portage, Utah 84331 Town Minutes Attendance: Council Member Tyson Nelson, Councilmember Mariah Huggins, Councilmember Sam Patterson, Councilmember Bell, Clerk Gina Marble, Treasurer Debbie Lucas Visitors: Martina John, Norma Lasa, Richard Beck, Amanda Loftiss, Samantha, Laura Nelson, Councilmember Nelson called the meeting to order. Opening Ceremony Pledge: Councilmember Paterson Prayer: Councilmember Huggins Laura Nelson- suggested giving more information on the agenda. Martina John asked about the water overage. Amanda Loftiss-asked about residence that are not supposed to mow the front strip of the property. Review and approve minutes of the Aug 9, 2023 Council meeting. I'll make a motion to approve the minutes from Aug 9th, 2023 by Councilmember Huggins. Seconded by Councilmember Patterson. All aye. Motion approves. 2. Review and approval of Aug 9-Sept 13,2023 Bills and Payroll. I'll make a motion to approve Bills and Payroll for Aug 9-Sept 13,2023 by Councilmember Bell. Seconded by Councilmember Huggins. All aye. Motion approves. 3. Review financial reports, bank reconciliations, and Water adjustments or write-offs. The council reviewed the reports. 4.Appointing Planning Commission members-Councilmember Nelson stated that we had 3 people put in to serve on the planning commission, Jennifer Richard, Michael Hedgecock and Laura Nelson. I'll make a motion to appoint Jennifer Richard, Michael Hedgecock as planning commission members and Laura Nelson for the alternate member by Councilmember Bell. Seconded by Councilmember Huggins. All aye. Motion approves. 5. Water update-Councilmember Nelson reported the water tank level was lower due to some parts that broke, we had a water contractor come up and fixed everything. 4 to 5 months ago we turned up the chlorine level but it's still below the state required level. 6-Road Update-Councilmember Patterson had nothing to report. 7-.Planning Commission report-Councilmember Bell reported they are working on ordinance 107. 8.Park Update-Councilmember Huggins reported we are still working on getting wood chips, next month we will blow out the sprinkler lines. 9. Fall Festival-Councilmember Huggins reported that we are planning on having the fall festival on Oct 14, 2023, we will do the same thing we did last year but we can do a movie in the park but if we do we will need a new screen. Councilmember Huggins stated she spent $800 to $1000 last year. The council agreed to do the same thing we did last year. I'll make a motion to allow $1000 for the fall festival by Councilmember Nelson. Seconded by Councilmember Bell. All aye. Motion approves. Sheriff Department-Nothing to report Fire Department- Nothing to report. I'll make a motion to adjourn by Councilmember Huggins. Seconded by Councilmember Nelson. All aye. Motion approves.
