Welcome and Introductions Julie Bartel, Board Chair 4:00 p.m. New Board Members - Welcome! Amy Redford, Amy Yuda, Diana Cabreles, Nick Vienneau, Shantel Stoff; and Nicole Laird our new Business Manager 2. Approval of Minutes from June 12 Board Retreat Julie Bartel 4:10 p.m. MOTION: To approve the minutes from 6/12/23 Meg Orsin i moved to approve Greg Ostrander seconded Motion approved unanimously 3. Final FY23 Adjusted Budget Approval Finance Committee 4:15 p.m. (Handout) Need to amend budget - reviewed/discussed a couple of spreadsheet errors and a few other minor adjustments. Budget has been adjusted and is ready to submit to the State. MOTION: To approve the Final FY23 Adjusted Budget Shantel Stoff moved to approve Kelly Goff seconded Motion approved unanimously 4. Behavior Policy Review Deborah Candler, Principal 4:20 p.m. We have several teachers working oni LEA-specific licenses while they are going through state APPEL program to get official icensure or subject endorsements. Motion for an LEA-Specific license for Jeremy Theriot has an LEA specific for the next three years. Meg Orsini moved to approve Abby Rizk seconded Motion passed unanimously. Updating Behavior Policy - Reviving No Bully program we began in 2016; many teachers trained then; getting a new Solutions Team together; aligns with how we operate JenBS - summarized how program works - it works great, evidence based - empowering, builds empathy Deborah - Bullying is described in Student Handbook - definition, types Behavior plans in place, flow charts - based on survey feedback (parent, student, faculty/staff). The Board asked staff to consider Parent Education nights about the No Bully Program. This will be planned once our training is scheduled. 5. Board Officers for 2023-24 Julie Bartel, et. al 4:40 p.m. : Julie Bartel, Chair Meg Orsini, Secretary Greg Ostrander as Chair Elect John Bakken and Treasurer We will formalize and vote on the officers' slate in the September meeting; we should do this in June going forward. 6. Board Committees for 2023-24 Julie Bartel, et. al 4:50 p.m. Reminder: Board committees may also include non-Board members./ Standing Committees: Governance (Chair, Chair-elect, Treasurer and Secretary) Finance (Chaired by Treasurer) Greg, Jennie, John B; Shantel Stoff, Nick Vienneau Community Outreach and Development - Board needs to lead the charge on 20th Anniversary Chair - Kelly Goff, members - Abby Rizk, Amy Yuda, Amy Redford Ad Hoc Committees for 2023-24 Accreditation / Charter Review Greg Ostrander, Nick Viennau, Julie Bartel Governing Board Policies and Procedures (Setting standards for the work of the Board.) Diana Cabrales, Julie Bartel, Shantel Stoff School Policies and Procedures Review and Update Amy Yuda, Julie Bartel 7. REQUEST TO SPEAK: There were no requests to speak to the Board. 8. Adjourn for Board Summer Social - Thank you to Kelly for hosting us! 5:00 p.m. Meg Orsini motioned to Adjourn the meeting Kelly Goff seconded Motion passed unanimously Next Board Meeting is Sept 18 5:30pm at school Kelly Goff encouraged us to think about self-care for teachers, advocated for board members to sub - please commit to sub at least once!
