FAYETTE TOWN COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2023
LOCATED AT FAYETTE TOWN HALL AT 7PM
FACILITATED BY MAYOR JED BARTHOLOMEW
CALL TO ORDER: 7:07PM
ROLL CALL: JED BARTHOLOMEW, MAYOR, BRYAN LYMAN, KELLY SUE MELLOR, MELISSA MELLOR, JOHN BOWN (ABSENT)
PRAYER: KELLY SUE
1) REVIEW MINUTES: Kelly Sue Made the motion to accept the Minutes. Bryan seconded the motion. The motion passes. Minutes are accepted.
2) REVIEW EXPENDITURES: Melissa Made the motion to accept the Expenditures. Kelly Sue seconded the motion. The Motion passes. The Expenditures were accepted.
3) NATHAN KING WATER REPORT: Nathan wasn't present at the meeting. He needs his certificate paid for, can Clerk make sure that is done?
4) LANDFILL FEES WENT UP DO WE WANT TO ADD TO OUR OWN BILLS? We will look at this after a few months.
5) BREANNE MASHEK WANTS TO OPEN A STORE IN TOWN: Breanne wants to open the Merc as a retail store. She will sell produce from gardens and food and crafts. Kind of a Farmer's market. She has already sent for a license from the State. We as a Town Council thought it was a really good idea and that we would support her in this adventure.
6) SHOULD WE SELL LESS THAN AN ACRE? The Town Council talked about whether we would accept the selling and building on less than a 1/2 acre. We decided it will be addressed if and where and if anyone wants to build on a property that small. We would have the Planning and Zoning Committee help us decide on the decision also.
7) PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE: The State requires us to have a P&Z. Six counties is going to write up an Ordinance concerning this issue and we will look at it and probably make some changes for our Town. We will address this next month.
8) STRAW BALES ALONG THE ROAD? We agreed the straw bales along the north road had to go. We didn't allow them there in the first place because we hired Bown Construction to dig a ditch that would take care of the issue we were having with flooding along that property. He needs to remove the bales.
9) JULY 24TH CELEBRATION WHO IS DOING IT? We talked about the 24th of July Celebration. It is our year to do the activities and the lunch. The Markers are in charge of it this year. The Council agreed to allow them $1000 to take care of the things that needed to be bought for a good celebration. The Church also contributes some money also.
CITIZEN'S CONCERNS
TOWN COUNCIL ITEMS:
Jed has contacted Jed Hill to put a vent in the Clerk's office. It is going to cost $410.00.
Kelly Sue has tried to contact Rusty Jones to see if he could build us something in the garage to hang the Christmas decorations on. No contact yet, but she will keep trying.
An AD needs to be put in the paper to find someone to spray the weeds this year for us.
We need to contact Mountainland to get some of our meters programmed so they can be read by the computer. There are some that have been replaced and they aren't being picked up.
