BUSINESS MEETING
1) Election of Chair and Vice Chair 2023. (Motion/Voting)
2) Approval of the April 19, 2023 Planning Commission Meeting Minutes. (Motion/Voting)
3) Discuss Removing section 19.15.110 Short-Term Rental Use Prohibited from Chapter 19.15: To address recent discussions about short-term rentals, the planning commission will discuss removing section 19.15.110 that prohibits STRs from being allowed in IADUs. The property would still be subject to collecting a business license for the IADU/STR rental and following all other permitting standards established in Title 19 or Title 5. Planner: Erin O'Kelley (Discussion)
4) Discuss Removing towing operations from the list of prohibited activities for a home business: Section 19.85.010 (B.) explicitly lists towing operations under prohibited activities in a home business. The Planning Commission will discuss removing towing operations from this list and adding two standards in the home business ordinance under Section 19.85.020 that would allow one towing vehicle larger than a truck on the property but prohibit impounding vehicles on the lot. Planner: Erin O'Kelley (Discussion)
5) Discuss Defining & Permitting Avalanche Mitigation Facilities in the FR-20 zone: To address recent emergency measures needed to mitigate avalanches in the canyon, staff is recommending creating a new use for avalanche mitigation facilities in the definitions chapter and allowing them as a permitted use in the FR-20 zone which covers all the ski areas in the Canyon. These facilities would not be subject to the same height requirements as other buildings in the FR zone. Planner: Erin O'Kelley (Discussion)
6) Discuss existing regulations for electronic or EMC signs and boards in Brighton. Planner: Erin O'Kelley (Discussion)
7) Discuss the next phase of the comprehensive code update for the Town of Brighton. The Planning Commission will briefly review the new chapters for standard use regulations and temporary uses.
