SALT LAKE CITY CORPORATION NOTICE OF 2023 MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 7, 2023 PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that there will be a Municipal General Election held on November 7, 2023, to elect Council Districts 2, 4, 6, and for the office of Mayor. These positions will be elected by using the Ranked Choice Voting method without a Primary Election. Each person seeking to become a candidate must file a Declaration of Candidacy in person between Monday and Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. beginning on August 8, 2023 and ending on August 15, 2023. The opportunity to Declare Candidacy will end promptly at 5:00 p.m. on August 15, 2023. Walk ins are accepted. If an appointment is desired, they may be scheduled online at: https://appointments.slc.gov. When Declaring Candidacy, candidates running for the office of City Council shall pay a filing fee of $97.00, or in lieu of fee, submit a Filing Fee Waiver Petition signed by 75 residents within the council district who are at least 18 years of age. Payments may be charged with a credit card surcharge of 2.47%, which is our cost of acceptance. Checks and debit cards are also acceptable forms of payment. The statutory and City Code provisions related to declarations of candidacy and eligibility to run for City Council are located in Utah Code 20A-9-203. When Declaring Candidacy, candidates running for the office of Mayor shall pay a filing fee of $406.00, or in lieu of fee, submit a Filing Fee Waiver Petition signed by 315 residents: 45 within each council district who are at least 18 years of age. Payments may be charged with a credit card surcharge of 2.47%, which is our cost of acceptance. Checks and debit cards are also acceptable forms of payment.
