To: Fire Prevention Board Members From: Ted Black State Fire Marshal Date: April 27, 2023 Subject: Fire Prevention Board Meeting Virtual Meeting A Fire Prevention Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 09, 2023, at 8:30 A.M. at Utah State Fire Marshal's office, 410 W 9800 S, Sandy, Utah 84070. Interested parties may attend this meeting in person or by following this link: meet.google.com/ebm-tcgm-tee The agenda for the Board Meeting will be as follows: 1. Board meeting called to order by Board Chair, Chief David Olsen Roll call of all Board members attending? Quorum? 2. Approval of the March 14, 2023, Fire Prevention Board meeting minutes. 3. Approval of the April 11, 2023 Fire Prevention Board, Appeals Hearing minutes. 4. Report to the Board by Chief Scott Spencer, Chair, Utah Fire Service Certification Council. 5. Report to the Board by Bradley Wardle, Director, Utah Fire and Rescue Academy. 6. Legislative status of the 2021 International Fire Code, Ted Black, Utah State Fire Marshal. 7. Approval by the Board to conduct the July 11, 2023 Fire Prevention Board meeting virtually. 8. Discussion on an amendment to the definition of 'approved' after the words fire code official add the words ', licensed engineer, architect, or building inspector, Ross Ford, Executive Officer, Utah Home Builders Association. 9. Purposed code changes to I-1 and I-2 health care facilities. Malcom Campbell, Architect, Department of Health & Human Services. R432-270-9. Residents' Rights. (5) Resident rights include the following: (p) The right to leave the facility at any time and not be locked into any room, building, or on the facility premises during the day or night. Assisted living Type II residents who have been assessed to require a secure environment may be housed in a secure unit, provided the secure unit is approved by the fire authority having jurisdiction. This right does not prohibit the establishment of house rules such as locking doors at night for the protection of residents; 10. Old Business: 11. New Business: 12.
