NOTICE OF COUNCIL MEMBER VACANCIES
I, Tami Privett, duly appointed Deputy Clerk/Recorder of the Town of Sterling; hereby give Notice to the public of the following vacancies to be filled in the next election.
Two (2) positions on the Town of Sterling Council will be open for election this year.
Council Member - 4 year term
Council Member - 4 year term
Persons seeking to become a candidate for a municipal office in Town of Sterling shall file a Declaration of Candidacy in person with the Deputy Town Clerk/Recorder Tami Privett between 8 a.m. June 1, 2023 and 5:00 p.m. June 7, 2023.
Candidates must meet the qualifications of Utah Code Section 10-3-301 and 20A-9-203:
- Be a registered voter. - A resident of the municipality (Town of Sterling) or a resident of a recently annexed area for a period of 12 consecutive months immediately before the date of election.
- Maintain a principal place of residence within the municipality and within the district that the elected officer represents, during the officer's term of office. - Not convicted of a felony, convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise, unless their right to hold elective office has been restored.
- Cannot have been declared mentally incompetent.
