2023 SUNSET CITY MUNICIPAL ELECTION Primary (if needed) - August 15, 2023 General - November 7, 2023 Sunset City will be voting for three Council Members - all 4 year terms. Declaration of Candidacy filing dates - June 1 through 7, 2023 (excluding Saturday/Sunday). (UCA 10-3-301) Declaration of Candidacy filing fee - $35.00 An alternative to paying the filing fee is to file a petition signed by 25 registered and valid Sunset City voters in support of your candidacy. Declaration of Candidacy Filing Form or Nomination Petition must be filed in person with the City Recorder during the office hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The deadline for candidate filing is 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Qualifications for becoming a candidate: 1) Be a registered voter in the City of Sunset. 2) Must have resided in Sunset for the 12 consecutive months immediately before the date of Election. 3) In accordance with Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this State until the right to hold elective office is restored under Utah Code Section 20A-2-101.3 or 20A-2-101.5. 4) If elected, maintain primary residence within the City during term of office. *Candidates are subject to financial disclosure requirements identified in Utah Code 10-3-208.
