Town of Independence Open Elected Offices The Town of Independence will elect three City Council members during the 2023 Municipal Election, which will be held on November 7, 2023. Each Council member will serve a term of 4 years. Currently holding the offices open for election are Council members Bonnie Wilson, Gary Ryan, and Tracy Sabey. Qualified individuals may complete and submit to the Town Administrator, by email, a Declaration of Candidacy between June 1, 2023 and June 7, 2023. Candidate Qualifications: 1. Candidates must be a United States citizen at time of filing for candidacy. 2. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the next municipal election. 3. Candidates must be a legal resident of the municipality, or a resident of the recent annexed area, for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election. 4. Candidates must be a registered voter of the municipality. 5. Pursuant to Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to vote or hold elective office is restored as provided by statute.
