Jordan Valley CDA Mr. Mark Isaac, Director of Planning, City of West Jordan Discussion on proposal by the City of West Jordan and developers regarding possible CDA and impacts on Jordan School District. B. Advertising on School Buses Update Mr. D. Burke Jolley, Deputy Superintendent for Business Services Update on progress of state rule and guidelines for placing advertising on school buses as allowed by HB199 Advertisements on School Buses. Districtwide – Wall-Mount Heat Pumps Discussion and possible action to approve bid for wall-mount heat pumps in portables throughout the District for a bid amount of $383,400.00. The current pumps require a refrigerant that will soon be obsolete. The new heat pumps will improve ventilation and will be more energy efficient. III. Special Business Items A. Recommendation to Approve of Roadway Agreement with Herriman City Mr. John Taylor, Administrator of Auxiliary Services Discussion and possible action to approve a pioneering agreement with Herriman City for roadway on 5600 West Street contiguous to the new middle school property in Herriman. 1. Public Input Regarding Proposed to Approve of Roadway Agreement with Herriman City The Board will take public comment on proposed Roadway Agreement with Herriman City in accordance with policy A8 Public Participation at School Board Meetings. 2. Action by Board of Education on Recommendation to Approve Roadway Agreement with Herriman City B. Recommendation to Adopt New Policy AA449 Elementary School Philosophy Mr. Bevan Wasden, Administrator of Schools Discussion and possible action on adopting a new Jordan School District policy addressing elementary school philosophy toward academics and extracurricular activities, including guidelines on elementary-level memory books. 1. Public Input Regarding Proposed New Policy AA449 Elementary School Philosophy The Board will take public comment on proposed new policy AA449 Elementary School Philosophy in accordance with policy A8 Public Participation at School Board Meetings. 2. Action by Board of Education on Recommendation to Adopt New Policy AA449 Elementary School Philosophy C. Recommended Action Regarding Student Appeals Mr. Rick Bojak, Board President Possible action on closed session item regarding student appeals to the Board of Education. IV. Information Items A. Superintendent’s Input 1. Superintendent’s Report 2. Redistricting Update Dr. Anthony Godfrey, Administrator of Schools Mr. David Stoddard, Administrator of Schools Mrs. Sherry Devenberg, Director, Student and Planning Services Update on progress of redistricting by Salt Lake County for Jordan School District Board of Education precincts. 3. Curriculum and Professional Development Report i. Online Education Update Mrs. Laura Finlinson, Administrator of Curriculum and Staff Development Update on progress of online education program for Jordan School District students. 4. Review of Changes in Law Regarding Bus Driver Qualifications Dr. June LeMaster, Administrator of Human Resources Update on new law which changes physical requirements for bus drivers. B. Patron Comments The Board will take public comment in accordance with policy A8 Public Participation at School Board Meetings. V. Discussion Items A. Policy Review: DP302 Substitute Teachers Dr. June LeMaster, Administrator of Human Resources Discussion on revisions to policy DP302 Substitute Teachers to establish a minimum age and number of credit hours needed to qualify as a substitute teacher for Jordan School District. 1. Public Input Regarding Proposed Revisions to Policy DP302 Substitute Teachers The Board will take public comment on proposed revisions to policy DP302 Substitute Teachers in accordance with policy A8 Public Participation at School Board Meetings. B. Policy Review: DE 502 Volunteer Services Dr. June LeMaster, Administrator of Human Resources Discussion on revisions to Policy DE 502 Volunteer Services to revise the administrative policy guidelines for volunteers in Jordan School District schools. 1. Public Input Regarding Proposed Revisions to Policy DE 502 Volunteer Services The Board will take public comment on proposed revisions to policy DE 502 Volunteer Services in accordance with policy A8 Public Participation at School Board Meetings. C. Comments by Board Members VI. Adjourn POTENTIAL CLOSED STUDY SESSION 8:30 p.m. A. Student Appeals In the event the appeals are not completed in the Closed Session preceding the Board Meeting, the Board of Education will return to a Closed Session to complete its deliberation. At the end of the Closed Session, the Board will return to the regular Board Meeting to take action regarding the appeals.
