City of Woodland Hills, UT Parks, Trails, and Recreation Committee Meeting Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 7:00 pm Business 1. Public Comment 2. Approval of August 16, 2022 minutes 3. Planning commission request for general plan pertaining to trails - please read on city website before attending meeting. 4. Discussion of moving the flagpole or trees so flag doesn't keep getting torn on the trees. It is decided after review that the actions to take are 1. Trim Tree,2. Research cost on new flagpole and flag 3. cement bench and Ben will set bench in cement. Janet will ask the family about moving flagpole and plaque and ask Colonial Flag about flag costs. Make assignments 5. Beautification Subcommittee update - went well! Could use some perennial color in round about and wood chips at post office. Assign and identify what we have in beautification budget to spend - assign 6. Trail update: Still in need of signage on trail at Switchback 4 to not use shortcut. As of today, trail needs water bar repair. Assign ask Major to close trail to motorized vehicles in Fall when maintenance is done until spring 2023. 7. Proposal for ordinance on trail. Now in a log jam of who need to do what. A decision needs to be made on who will make the trail signage. One suggestion is Zack Poulter in Woodland Hill because he has done signage in the city before and may do it, but he will be moving in the near future. ASSIGNMENTS 8. Proposal of firebreak trail in ravine has been made. The city is waiting for a drone study to be done and then a packet put together and then they want to approach homeowners for an extended easement. 9. Discussion on problems enforcing ordinances. Specific problems are speed, park usage and problems and violations continue of park hours. There is a recommendation of putting a Neighborhood Watch in place that has been discussed on the city level. 10. Discussion of pickleball and basketball courts took place. Brief discussion of getting bids and and donations to be accomplished by next meeting. Make assignments 11. Follow-up on the process for GroupMe to keep texts for how long? Was discussed. We will keep texts by downloading them quarterly was decided upon. 12. Dark Sky recognition. It was suggested to ask Judy Pickell to join this subcommittee because of her knowledge and experience with Dark Sky. It was suggested that a Dark Sky meeting be decided upon soon. End of Sept. 13. Other business 14. Adjourn Next Meeting will be Tuesday September 18, 2022
