In Attendance: Les Wilberg, Rod Player, Steven Jeffery, Les Thompson, Robin Hunt, Don Bennett,Terri Bennett, Ed Geary, Ray Peterson, Taren Powell, Lynn Sitturud, Adriana Chimaras ,
1. Approval of Minutes: June 7th, 2022-Change Rob to Rod on #3 and add Taren Powell to attendance.Approve after changes. Motioned by Rod 2nd by Don. Approved.
2. Presentation by Outdoor Alliance: Economic Impact Studies of the MLSNF
Postponed.
3. Discuss Reports of the Following:
a. BLM- we have finished placing all the rocks that were delivered and have submit our matching documents to the Backcountry Houseman for the grant, big thanks to them, and we look forward to finishing up those grants this year.The UCC crew is going to come on and start working on July 20th, they will be signing routes in the SRD and building a fence around the swinging bridge north campgrounds. Our meeting and onsite for new interpretive panels went well, and we should have some drafts for the county to review in the next few weeks. The federal register notice for our new campground fees should be published today, which means we will start charging campground fees at cottonwood, new joes, buckhorn, people pasture, and temple mountain in January 2023.
b. Forest Service- Myron is getting his feet on the ground. Will be attending meetings until Chris' position is filled. New contact information myron.jeffs@usda.gov 435-636-3584, Myron's office is in Ferron. Stewart Guard Station is closed for the season. All gates on the mountain are open. Arepeen Clean up day is July 16th at Joe's Valley old boat ramp. They have repainted the Seeley Guard Station. Indian Creek Campground does not have water right now, repairs expected to take some time. Motorized and non-motorized trail work is being done. BCHM has been doing trail work as well. Continued trail work and volunteer discussion. The Trail crew has days this month scheduled with the Forest Service and Emery Telcom. July 19-21. Snow drifts still on Skyline including Jet Fox and George's Fork, should be gone soon.
c. State Parks- No representative present. State Parks have been busy.
d. Committee Member- Steven and Adriana as well as Blake and Caleb from the BLM went to the trails conference last month. Other countries expressed how impressed they are with how well Emery County is doing things. Most information was focused on how to do things administratively and included a lot of mountain biking information. BLM seemed thankful and got some really good information from going. Les Wilberg shared about on-sites and the corporations and partnerships that are being built that are really exciting. Les has also been working with Cody Webster to work on maintenance near Green River.
e. Commission- No representative present.
f. Travel Bureau- Conversation about reaching out to Grand BLM about Athena.
