NOTICE OF CITIZEN COMMENT PERIOD
The St. George Police Department recently received notification of available funding from the United States Justice Department under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) FY 2022 Local Solicitation. The JAG program provides local agencies with the flexibility to prioritize and place justice funds where needed most. The St. George Police Department is eligible to receive $28,217.
JAG funds may be used to provide additional personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, training, technical assistance, and information systems for criminal justice. The St. George Police Department will be utilizing the grant funds for two projects. The larger project consists of a multi-agency agreement to fund the purchase of 3D Scanning equipment for use in fatal, or potentially fatal, collision investigations, and other complex crime scene investigations requiring detailed diagram and measurements. Funds will support the initial purchase and support for the equipment and software.
The remaining funds will be utilized to purchase Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs) to issue sworn officers. Kits will contain tourniquets and other medical supplies for officers to use when circumstances limit accessibility to the injured officer/citizens by EMS/medical personnel.
These programs will replace older, less efficient or effective, means to accomplish the program goals and will enhance the investigators' and officers' ability to meet the needs for which the items are being purchased.
Public comments and questions should be emailed to michael.giles@sgcity.org.
