Notice is being given of a Midterm City Council Vacancy in Washington, Utah. Any person interested in serving as a City Council Member, and meeting the following eligibility and residency requirements, is hereby invited to submit a letter of intent to serve. The appointed Council Member will serve through the vacated term of Council Member Kress Staheli ending December 31, 2023. Eligibility and Residency Requirements: Candidates must be a United States citizen at time of filing for candidacy. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the appointment. Candidates must be a legal resident of the municipality for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of appointment. Candidate must be a registered voter of the municipality. Pursuant to Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to vote or hold elective office is restored as provided by statute. Letter of Intent: In your letter, please include answers to the following questions to verify eligibility: Are you a United States Citizen? Are you at least 18 years of age as of January 18, 2022? Have you been a Washington City resident for the previous 12 consecutive months? Are you a Washington City registered voter? Please consider responding to the following additional questions in your letter: Why do you desire to serve Washington City residents as a member of the City Council?
