Payson, Utah-The Utah County Judicial Nominating Commission has announced the appointment of Judge Eric Jewell to fill the justice court judge position that serves Payson, Utah. The position replaces Judge David C. Dahlquist who retired in April.
Eric Jewell graduated from Brigham Young University in 2006 with a degree in Economics. He then attended law school at the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary in Virginia, graduating in 2009. Following graduation, Mr. Jewell passed the Virginia Bar Exam and worked as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in Gloucester County, Virginia, where he prosecuted an extensive caseload of various felony and misdemeanor cases. In 2012, he passed the Utah Bar Exam and accepted a position as the Assistant City Attorney for Payson City where he prosecuted all misdemeanor cases for the city in both justice and district court. Mr. Jewell also handled prosecutions for the city of Mapleton from 2012-2020.
