NOTICE OF HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT ON Tuesday, October 20, 2020 and Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. public hearings will be held by the Salt Lake City Council to accept public comment and consider adopting an ordinance relating to Petition No. PLNPCM2018-00066. A proposed ordinance is before the Council to amend various sections of Title 21A of the Salt Lake City Code pertaining to Single Room Occupancy (SRO) uses (to be called shared housing uses). The proposed amendments would redefine shared housing and permit shared housing in more zoning districts than currently allowed. Generally, shared housing contains individual rooms with combined sleeping and living areas. Kitchen and/or toilet facilities are often common spaces to be shared by all residents. The proposal also includes qualifying provisions that address minimum floor areas, communal areas, a requirement that a property manager be on-site 24 hours a day, and security camera monitoring. Other sections of Title 21A - Zoning may also be amended as part of this petition. The Council may consider adopting the ordinance on the same night of the second public hearing. This meeting will be electronic pursuant to the Chair's determination that conducting the meeting at a physical location may present a substantial risk to the health & safety (due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic) of those who would otherwise be present at an anchor location, and pursuant to SLC Emergency Proclamation. If you are interested in participating in the Public Hearing, please visit the website https://www.slc.gov/council/ to learn how you can share your comments during the meeting. Comments may also be provided by calling the 24-Hour comment line at (801)535-7654 or sending an email to council.comments@slcgov.com. All comments received through any source are shared with the Council and added to the public record.(P 19-5)
