IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER
Monitoring requirements were not Met for UTAH #13004
Our water system violated a drinking water standard this year. Even though this was not and emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened and what we did to correct this situation.
We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards. During September 2020 we did monitor or test for ROUTINE bacteriologic analysis, and the test submitted came back positive for total chloroform and NEGATIVE for ECOLI. This outcome means we are required to do further bacteriological tests to insure the quality of our drinking water at that time.
What should I do?
There is nothing you need to do at this time.
Below is the list of the contaminant(s) tested for during September 2020, how often we are supposed to sample for ROUTINE bacteriological contaminants. What follow up samples were taken and the outcome of the samples. how may samples we are supposed to take, how many samples we took, when samples should be taken, and the date on which follow-up samples were or will be taken.
Contaminant Required Number of When all samples When follow up
Sampling samples were samples were ____________ Frequency taken taken taken and how many
Routine 1 sample 1 September 2020 September 2020
E-coli monthly 3 repeat samples
Total Chloroform
What happened? What is being done?
We have since taken the steps to correct this oversight. The Repeat bacteriological samples were taken as required, 1 at the source, 1 within 5 connections up stream, and 1 within 5 connections downstream. The Repeat tests for September 2020 were NEGATIVE for total chloroform and E-coli. We are not sure why the original sample tested positive. It may be because the test location tap has not been used for a time. The Operator is now flushing all test sites in the system to insure against future Total Chloroform outcome.
