- DIVISION OF WATER QUALITY UTAH DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY PUBLIC NOTICE TO REISSUE A UPDES PERMIT PURPOSE OF PUBLIC NOTICE The purpose of this public notice is to declare the State of Utah's intention to reissue a Utah Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (UPDES) permit under authority of the Utah Water Quality Act, Section 19-5-104 and 107, Utah Code Annotated 1953, as amended. Said 'permit' refers to UPDES permit and statement of basis (including the Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL's) if applicable), as per Section 303 (d) of the Federal Clean Water Act (CWA). PERMIT INFORMATION PERMITTEE NAME: Saratoga Springs Pool MAILING ADDRESS: C/O Community Solutions, 12371 South 900 East Suite #2, Draper, UT 84020 TELEPHONE NUMBER: (801) 766-0621 FACILITY LOCATION: 625 South Saratoga Drive, Saratoga Springs, UT 84043 UPDES PERMIT NO.: UT0025321 PERMITTED OUTFALLS 001 RECEIVING WATER: Utah Lake BACKGROUND This facility consists of naturally surfacing geothermal spring water that is treated with chlorine and used for a swimming pool and spas. While all of the geothermal water is captured at the spring source, only a portion of the water is chlorinated and used for the pool and spa. Pool water is intermittently pumped to the head of a man made earthen and rock water course through the immediate park area. After running down through the park area, the water commingles with the unused portion of the surfacing spring water, and continues to flow south-east through an earthen and rock ditch to Utah Lake. The facility has a Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code of 7999, for Amusement and Recreation Services. PUBLIC COMMENTS Public comments are invited any time prior to the deadline of the close of business on September 21, 2020. After considering public comment, the Division of Water Quality may reissue, revise, or abandon it. The permit is available for public review under 'Public Participation' at https://deq.utah.gov/public-notices-archive/water-quality-public-notices.
