Granite School District board member Gayleen Gandy (Precinct VII) is resigning her position on the Board of Education effective August 1, 2020. In accordance with state statute (Utah Code ยงยง 20A-1-511, 20A-9-201, and 20A-14-202), the board will appoint a candidate who meets all requirements to fill the vacancy.
School Board Candidate Qualifications
- U.S. citizen.
- Resident within Granite School District Precinct VII boundary for at least one year as of the date of the appointment.
- Registered voter in Granite School District Precinct VII boundary.
- Must maintain primary residence in Precinct VII boundary during term of office.
- If a Granite School District employee, must resign from current position in Granite School District before being appointed.

Individuals who wish to apply to fill the vacancy, and who meet the qualifications, must submit a declaration of candidacy to the superintendent's office at the Granite Education Center (2500 S. State Street) by 3:00 p.m. on July 1, 2020. Candidates should contact Stacy Bushell at (385) 646-4523 to obtain information and a declaration of candidacy form. Qualified candidates will be interviewed during a public board meeting (tentatively scheduled to occur during the Tuesday, July 7, 2020, board meeting) at the Granite Education Center. The successful candidate will be appointed during the August 4, 2020 board meeting.
