III. BUSINESS
IV. MEMBERS REPORTS.
Mayor Johnson. Mayor Johnson reported the large dumpster will be in town on 9 May 2020 for the use of town citizens. However, due to the coronavirus issue there will not be a lunch or a group project. Citizens will be encouraged to work on their own property. This information will be put on the 30 April 2020 water bill.
Rental of the town park will have to be put off until restrictions from the state are removed for group gatherings.
Mayor Johnson has still not heard from USDA about the grant money for the water system. With the economic turmoil the coronavirus is setting in motion, she doubts that money will ever be available. However, she wanted to know if the council still wanted Kelly Chappell to file on the mountain springs: Cold Spring and Saddle Pass. If they are filed on, work would have to be done on them within seven years. The council all agreed they should be filed on.
Mayor Johnson encouraged the council to be thinking of what items may be needed to be put on the budget next year. A preliminary budget will be discussed in the meeting in May. A few possibilities are: work on the roads, an irrigation motor, the line from the irrigation pond to the pump house, and an open shed for the generator.
Mayor Johnson reported she had talked with the Wayne School Superintendent, Ned Taylor, and Tyler Newton and encouraged them to push for a bus pick up/drop off on the south side of the Middle School building. She told them the town does not agree with installing 4-way stop signs on the corners there.
Adus Dorcey requested a list of the business's in town for economic purposes. Connie will get the list for him.
Weston. Weston asked why the town has to do a quarterly residual report on chlorine use for the culinary water, when the town rarely uses chlorine. Scott explained it is a required report for the state.
Rhett. Rhett wanted to know if the town is going to do a Face Book and a web page. Mayor Johnson said she applied for grant money from the Special Service District. If awarded said money it would be used for improvements for the office, including a web site and such. This will be put in the new budget in July.
Connie. The new computers are ready to be set up, but a date has not been set when Pelorus will come and do that, because of the restrictions for the coronavirus.
Scott. Scott reported the springs on the mountain are producing about 32
gallons a minute. Scott dug a grave for Ken Unsworth's daughter, Milissa. Scott will begin work on the pot holes in town when it warms up. Scott reported he had fixed some of the decorative blocks along main street. The culinary water meters have been read. Scott will need to get some fertilizer soon. Scott fixed the perimeter wire fence at the Brinkerhoff Spring. Scott is going to clean the screens on the mountain springs.
