Transportation Master Plan
Joseph Taylor (JT), SLC Transportation
Joe gave background information on the current Transportation Master Plan (TMP) and said Transportation is using the Transit MP, the Pedestrian/Bicycle MP and Plan Salt Lake as guiding documents to set the tone and update this plan. This is to be a policy document that is focused on people and how they live and interact within the city with air quality concerns being at the forefront. The process this document will go through, which will include public outreach, was discussed. The timeline for updating the TMP and a list of goals with members sharing their priorities and ideas for each of those goals was explained. Some suggestions provided included walkability for kids, aesthetics, land use, neighborhood hubs, more park and rides, toll roads and equity based funding. Joe encouraged the TAB/BAC members to reach out to him with any further ideas or concerns.
North Temple Multi-modal Hub
Susan Lundmark, SLC Transportation
Susan was unable to attend so the North Temple Multi-modal Hub update will be rescheduled for the February TAB meeting.
600 North Corridor Study
Kyle Cook, SLC Transportation
Kyle went over the timeline for the 600 North Corridor study and said he would like to recruit the members to give input to the extent that they are interested. 600 North transitions to 700 North and he showed them the study area. Corridor plan elements, such as separated bike lanes, frequent transit networks, mid-block crossings, lighting, art, and others, were presented. Kyle said this is a confused street in terms of access and mobility and doesnt have great signaling coming off of the interstate system. He went over the elements of the plan and showed them the street as it currently looks discussing some possible changes at specific locations. Transportation is going to go through their goals and try different scenarios with this process taking approximately a calendar year. The timeline as well as upcoming community engagement was gone over and Elicia, Greg and Courtney volunteered to follow and give input on the project.
