Elwood Town Council Meeting January 11, 2019 The Elwood Town Council met at the Elwood Town Hall, 5235 West 8800 North, Elwood, Utah, at 6:00, January 11, 2019. The following members were present consisting of a quorum. Keenan Nelson Mayor Jon Howard Councilmember Mike Pace Councilmember Oakley Nelson Councilmember Staff present at this meeting Gina Marble Town Clerk Steve Woerner Public Works Director Others present at this meeting WELCOME ADMINISTRATION Councilmember Yates was absent for the work meeting Mayor welcomed everyone to the work meeting, Item#1 Discuses RDA for Elwood Town-Mayor Nelson stated that he met with 4 different contractors that want to build in Elwood. Mayor Nelson reported that He and Gina Marble met with Mitch Zundel from the county regarding the RDA. We have a few different options we can do the county can oversee it for a fee or Elwood can oversee it. It will cost Elwood around $12,000.00 to $20,000.00 to hire an attorney to do an RDA. When we make the district make it big so in the future we can use the RDA funds in more places in Elwood. Mayor Nelson explained that we don't collect taxes unless someone moves in. The RDA funds can be used for new roads, water lines and sewer to help with infrastructure in Elwood Town as long as it's in the district. Mayor Nelson stated if we could be more business in town it would help pay for parks and help keep the property tax down for the citizens. Councilmember Nelson stated that it's a wise decision to think ahead and move towards the future. Councilmember Pace stated its time to look for the future. Councilmember Pace made a motion to move forward with the RDA. Councilmember Howard seconded the motion and the remaining council agreed. Councilmember Howard made a motion to adjourn, Councilmember Pace seconded the motion and the remaining council agreed.
