Moab Area Travel Council Advisory Board Meeting November 12, 2019 3:00 pm Grand County Council Chambers 125 E Center Street Moab, Utah 84532 1. Meeting Called to Order 2. Approval of Minutes: October 8, 2019 3. Public Q & A 4. Presentations: a. Rodeo - Krista Wilson 5. Discussion and Action Items: a. Strategic Partners Update (Attachment) b. Marketing Committee - Marketing meeting - Nov 19th AM or Nov 20th PM 6. Chairman's Report, Howard Trenholme a.Review of the updated TRT 2019 b.Boosting visitation during the off season- Love Communications will start up the full marketing campaign in November. See attached Flow Chart. c. see attached Moab Businesses open in Winter- this information has been sent out to the Utah Office of Tourism, UOT reps in Germany, France, UK, Australia, New Zeland, China, Canada. We must encourage all businesses to fill out the necessary information about their business located on the Grand County. Businesses are not keeping their information current. We are going to reach out to the businesses again to have them update their info. d. Astro/night sky tourism- Elaine is on the committee for the SE Utah Dark Sky Reserve Working Group. Elaine has contacted Garfield County, Kane County, Wayne County requesting representatives from their area. The goal is to create a Dark Sky Reserve that will span from Kane County to the Colorado Border. This will bring Astro Tourism to So. East Utah. However, since Arches was designated a Dark Sky Park, Elaine has forwarded updated information to all the International representatives about Moab Dark Skies. We also have updated our Discover Moab website with more information. Elaine has requested 2020 events from the National Park Service, the BLM and the State Park inorder to update UOT and the Representatives. There will be a feature in the Moab Snapshot newsletter about our Dark Skies in early 2020. The Snapshot goes out to over 1000 people including past visitors, International Tour Agents, and more. e. Meetings and Events for Winter- Keri Frandsen is following up on the appointments I had at IMEX ( Meetings and Events Trade Show) from 2018. She is updating the list of meeting space in Moab. Once compete we will send out to those contacts. Keri will be attending the 2020 IMEX show to promote our meeting space. f. Moab clean fresh air- The Travel Council already created an ad for this marketing. See the ad that Robert that created and we ran in 2017. 7. Directors Report, Elaine Gizler Elaine is out of the office today. 8. Committee Reports a. Marketing b. Airport c. Chamber of Commerce d. County Council e. City Council 9. Future agenda items a. Next Board meeting will be on December 10, 2019 o Joette Langanese- and Crystal White Friends of Arches and Dark Skies o FAM Tour Closed Session(s) if necessary. 10.
