7. Officer reports and legislative oversight.
Mayor Van Leeuwen informed the Council that he is working with staff on the 2019-20 budget and it should be ready within the month. Also, staff have been working hard on filling the pot holes around the City.
Our City participated in a mock earthquake disaster in which we were a command center. Mr. Morris was the ECO in charge and did an excellent job. We learned that there are areas where we can improve and staff will be updating our disaster planning. Mr. Morris, Mr. Meyerhoffer, and Mr. Mecham received FEMA training certification.
Mr. Morris stated that he is working with UTA to get $47,713.00 in funds to assist with the 1200 West CDBG project.
The First United Methodist Church would like to have access to secondary water. Staff will look into the cost.
The Planning Commission held a Public Hearing this month regarding the Annexation Policy Plan. Some residents from West Weber expressed interest in incorporating or being annexed.
Mr. Meyerhoffer discussed the cost of snow removal for the City. If we purchased equipment for snow removal it may alleviate some of the cost associated with contracting with the County. He also discussed purchasing an administrative vehicle.
The new security system for the building and parks is up and running. Those who do not have access cards will receive them soon.
Mr. Christoffersen appreciates all the effort to keep the City running smoothly.
Mr. Smout recommends that UDOT install a lane travel sign on the crossbar at S.R. 126 and 400 North.
Mr. Hodson said he has noticed that the new truck route signs on 1200 West are helping because there are not as many heavy trucks driving along that road.
Mr. Hodson asked about IFA and Weber School District. He would like to get the boundary adjusted back to the City. Staff will follow-up. Also, Mr. Hodson was concerned about spring flooding. Staff noted that there is no anticipated flooding this year, but the City has sandbags ready if flooding occurs.
Pres. Holley was pleased with how the mock disaster went.
8. Adjourn.
Being no further business, Pres. Holley adjourned the meeting at 7:40 P.M.
