2019 Municipal Election Notice Notice is hereby given to inform Portage Town Residents that there will be a Municipal Election this year for 2 Town Council positions ( 4-year terms) starting January 2020 to January 2024. Interested persons may file, in person, a Declaration of Candidacy Form or Nominating Petition with the Portage Town Clerk from 8 am and 5 pm between June 3, 2019 and June 7, 2019. Candidates must meet the following qualifications: 1. Be a United States Citizen. 2. Be a registered voter of the municipality. 3. Be at least 18 years old at the time of the election. 4. Be a legal resident of the municipality for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election. 5. Any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to vote or hold elective office is restored as provided by statute. If more than two candidates file for each position, a primary will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.
