Mayfield Town Council Meeting
April 10, 2019 (Recording #84)
Regular meeting of the Mayfield Town Council was held on April 10, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mayfield Town Hall, located at 52 North Main Street, Mayfield, Utah.

Mayor Christensen welcomed everyone to the meeting. He turned the time over to Trenton Willson from Utah State Extension. He was at the meeting to talk about a rural online initiative program to help people work from home. The Rural Online Initiative is a resource designed to help teach rural communities and their citizens how to capitalize on the remote work revolution and use virtual jobs to revive our economies. In March 2018, Governor Gary Herbert signed house bill 327 to fund the Rural Online initiative. This bill was designed to solve the exportation crisis of young adults moving away from rural counties in the State of Utah in search of sustainable employment.They would like to have a training and invite the Mayfield community on April 30, 2019 at the Mayfield Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. The four week training will begin the following Thursday.
Diane Allred was at the meeting to discuss with the council Margaret Amy's concern with privacy on the south side of her home when the town hall is being used.. Diane stated that they would like to put in a lattice and grow roses to help with privacy on that side. She said that the cost would be about $1,200.00. Mike suggested we install a white vinyl privacy fence all along the North side of the town hall. After some discussion Mike made the motion to approve the project after talking to Van and getting his approval, seconded Aaron. Motion carried.
Minutes for the month of March 13, 2019 were presented to the council. After some discussion, motion was made by Mike to accept the minutes, seconded by Aaron. (Roll Call Vote - John - yes, Eric - yes, - Aaron - yes, Malynda - yes).
Bills were presented for payment for the month of April 2019. After reviewing the bills motion was made by Malynda to pay the bills, seconded by Aaron, motion carried. (Roll Call vote Eric - yes, John - yes, Aaron - yes, Malynda - yes).
Catherine stated that she had talked to David Church about our zoning code and he felt that we should stay with our R2- 20,000 and just make the changes that we want to our existing ordinances.. After some discussion Catherine said she will prepare the R2-20,000 changes and also the Residential-Commercial ordinance for next meeting. We will need to have a public hearing for the final approval. The Planning Commission will also have to have a Public Hearing prior to our meeting.
Catherine stated that Ace Robertson's annexation is complete with the Lt. Governor's office but we have problems with Ace's plat map that we need to fix before the county will record it.
Catherine presented the quarterly financial report. She went over the town budget and areas of concern.
Mike talked to the council about purchasing a Kubota RTV for Van to use at the park and cemetery. The cost would run about $20,800.00. John suggested we also purchase a small backhoe. After some discussion motion was made by Mike to approve the purchase of the Kubota, seconded by Aaron. Motion carried.
Catherine stated that several residents have talked to her about getting street signs on phase 2 of the Mayfield Estate. The council said to get them ordered.
