SALT LAKE CITY PLANNING DIVISION OPEN HOUSE September 19, 2018 at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Union Pacific Railroad Station 2 S 400 West in the Grand Hall Salt Lake City, Utah 84101 Salt Lake City Planning Division 451 S. State Street Room 406 PO Box 145480 Salt Lake City, UT 84114 801-535-7700 On the Agenda Planned Development, Conditional Building and Site Design, and Historic Review for the Union Pacific Hotel- HKS Architects, on behalf of the property owner, have initiated the above-mentioned Planning petitions to accommodate the development of an 8-story hotel on the west side of the existing Union Pacific Railroad Station. The hotel project is in conjunction with the adaptive reuse of the historic train station itself, which entails the preservation of the existing Grand Train Hall in the center of the station and the addition of other hotel amenities. All new construction in the Gateway-Mixed Use zoning district must be reviewed as a planned development. The applicants have also requested to go through the Conditional Building and Site Design Review process to accommodate some additional building height for the new hotel - 99 feet in lieu of the permitted 75 feet. The new hotel will be no taller than the Union Pacific Railroad Station.
