FINAL BUDGET HEARING
JUNE 28, 2018
7:30 pm
PRESENT; Mayor Jesse Campbell, Jared Campbell, Marty Anderson, Troy Campbell
PRAYER; Jared Campbell
PLEDGE; Marty Anderson
MINUTES; read for June 13, 2017
The town council rejected the current tax rate of .000512 and amended the rate to .000617 due to no increase in the Joseph Taxes for some time. Also our rate is significantly lower than the rest of the towns in the county.
In order to amend the tax rate we need to have a Tax Rate hearing before August 17th and decide on a tax rate.
The Mayor had concerns about raising the taxes where we are still ironing out our budget. Kay Monroe is currently helping the town and going over our finances. He said we have a lot of water revenue coming in.
Another concern and reason for raising the taxes would be to help offset utility costs.
The council went over all the revenue and expenses for the budget and revised it from 2017-2018 and decided it was in the towns best interest to increase the taxes. The council is looking at raising it to .0013 instead of .000617
Marty proposed the increase & Jared 2nd the motion
