MINUTES; Minutes for the April meeting were read. Jared motioned to accept them and Marty 2nd the motion. The council was unanimous
MAYORS UPDATES; No one from the council was able to make it to the CIB meeting in April. The Avis' paid on their bill this month. The mayor asked if we got the meter reads for the business's & Jone's, who bought water from the town. Bills were sent to the business, and Steve will get in contact with Dwayne Jones and get those numbers. Branton from the County came to explain the mosquito abatement program. He said it is a program the county offers even if you can't pay, but when it's gone it's gone. They ask the towns to help cover the cost of the larvacide. The town did not pay last year. Branton said to please call if we have any problems, or if we have any get togethers to have them come spray before hand.
ROADS; It was brought up last meeting about charging customers for street light use. $4.60 would be the total each customer would have to pay. Jared did some research with other towns and they suggested instead of charging fees, to do utility markups to get revenue that way. He said the companies would charge the customers and then send us a check. He was unsure what % it would bring in, but thought it would be worth checking into. The mayor thinks it's a good idea. Doug made a motion to investigate more, Jared 2nd the motion.
Juel Parker had some concerns about how much the town pays for everything and thought we should ask them if they would give anything back to the community. He said he would call and check into it himself.
Steve asked that we let everyone know they need to move their cars off the side of the road so he can mow the weeds. He is not liable if any flying debris damages a parked car. We will post on face book if anyone wants their weeds mowed they need to move their cars.
There is a parked car next to the mayors home that is off the side of the road. It must be on the road for the county to do anything.
PLANNING COMMISSION: Melba McCombs is ready to retire. Peggy Smith will be the secretary and work with Melba to make the transition. Brent Parker is also being released as Planning Commission Chair person. Wilda Moseman will take over for him. Hey both will need a Utah Local Government Trust book. What do we want to do for Melba and her service.
Carl Davis and Angel Smith was approved for a building permit for a 30x30 building to the side of the house.
Sam Owens applied for a at home business license. He will be buying cars and fixing them up to sell them. He is trying to get the building up by Marty's house to put a sign up, which is required by the state. If he decides to have the business at his dads house, Jared told him he would need a variance by the town, with papers signed by the neighbors with their approval. He was approved by the council.
CEMETARY; Madeleen Bingham and Twila Owens came to show the council the book that has been compiled. They are giving a copy of the book to anyone who gives a $15.00 donation or more. It will cost $8.71 to have them printed at Sevier School and Office. The mayor suggested getting a bid from Dane Buck miller & Dan Demille. Marty was going to check with his sister as well. There are 55 graves that do not have headstones. They are marked with wood stakes wit their names printed on them. The committee is hoping to get some type of a headstone for every grave. There will be a Memorial Day program @ noon and pie and ice cream will be served. Doug asked if there is any receipts of all the work that has been done up at the cemetery to be turned in to apply for the grant.
Steve would like to move one of the signs up in the front back to the other side of the cemetery so people don't have to walk back and forth. Plexy glass is needed to cover both signs. There will be a map of the whole cemetery for both.
BUILDING;
PARK; Christy Mitchell's chainsaw would not work so the council ok'd Steve to buy one. He is planning on buying one from Harbor Freight.
The Signs are up for the Town clean-up.
WATER: Jared asked Steve if he got water certified. He said he did. The garbage was increased $0.25 because of diesel prices. Hopefully it will go down.
MISCELLANEOUS; Kali from the 4th of July committee came to update the council on the plans. There will be a parade this year. Melba McCombs will be our Grand Marshall. There was a question on the parade theme. It was undecided at the time. The council ok'd all the activities.
Jared motioned to adjourn, Marty 2nd it.
