Description/Agenda
Marysvale Town Board meeting minutes for February 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Attending: Mayor Janet Fautin, Council Members Kristie Dixon, Gloria Fox, Ann Kennedy, and Milo Medley. Submitted by: Wendy Steed, Town Clerk Ann made a motion to accept the minutes, Gloria seconded, passed unanimously. 1. Topic-Dwight Broussard-questions about putting a modular on his property. Discussion-He bought Dianne Gordon old trailer located at 398 S 770 W. He asked if he could move the modular in and keep the existing trailer for his grandkids to play in. Milo explained that the ordinances will not let a person have two dwellings on one lot but he suggested that they be hooked together. Dwight said that it would not be possible to hook them together because of the location of the old trailer. Dwight asked how soon they would have to remove the old trailer before they put the new modular in because they are living in the trailer while they get the modular in place. Milo told him that they would have to petition for a variance for them to be there at the same time but it would be a short period of time that they would be allowed to be there. Dwight asked if he could remove an old shed and replace it. Milo said that would be fine because sheds are considered temporary. Action- Mayor Fautin told Dwight to get with Wendy and get on next's months agenda and get the permits lined up. 2. Topic-Chris Jessen-community garden Discussion-Chris Jessen brought Bell Camp and Brinlee Whittaker as ambassadors for the 4-H to explain the program. They explained that the garden is to help the community to have fresh vegetables to feed the people that need it. Chris explained that the kids will get the garden ready and plant it. Chris needs the town to provide a place to have the garden and provide the water. Also there will be people needed to help work the garden. She will provide the seed, the pipe and drip system. Milo asked how is the food distributed? Chris said that some of the food goes to the food bank. Some of the food will go to shut in's in the community. A note will be posted when the food is ready and people are welcome to come and get the food. The food is not sold but given away. Commissioner Will Talbot explained the Piute Intergenerational Poverty Plan. He explained the goals, key strategies, and key measures to track progress, assumptions, barriers/challenges and the next steps for Piute County. Will invited anyone to come and be on the board. Action- Mayor Fautin said that the board will take this under advisement. We will look for a place to have the garden. The mayor would like to get some people interested in helping with this project. Milo made a motion to support the IGP program and designate some land for the use of the community garden, Ann seconded, passed unanimously. 3. Topic-Recycling and Enterprise Zone Discussion-Mayor Fautin wanted to know if the application got submitted. Milo said Gloria e-mailed it to him and he has it filled out. He will get them submitted. Action- Milo will get this issue done. 4. Topic-Fill the vacancy on the planning and zoning board Discussion- Mayor Fautin said that we need to fill the vacancy on the planning and zoning board because of Milo being elected to the town board. Milo wanted to know if he could still be a member of that board and not be the chairman. He asked if anyone knew the answer to that question. Action- Mayor Fautin asked that this issue be tabled until she does some research to see if Milo can be on both boards. 5. Topic- Donation to the cheerleaders and drill team Discussion- Mayor Fautin said this is a donation of $400.00 for an ad from Marysvale to televise the region and state basketball teams girls and boys. The cheerleaders and drill team get a portion of this for their programs. Action- Ann made a motion to give them $400.00 for the ad, Kristie seconded, passed. 6. Topic- Mayor training the board Action- Mayor Fautin trained the board on the open and public meeting act. Discussion- Chamber President Jan Bredthauer would like to have directional signs to show the community center, community park, post office, Miners Park and the cemetery. The program is called UDOT way finding signs. She was told that UDOT would provide the signs but it has to be presented from the town. Jan will get the list of signs to the Mayor and the Mayor will contact UDOT. Jan said that the town and the chamber will need to find some volunteers to help maintain the Miners Park for the year 2018. Milo has a follow up on the minutes from last month. We talked about a book of phone numbers for the community resources. Wendy had some books run off and passed them out to the board. Mayor Fautin will pass them out to some of the community leaders. Milo said that we need someone to replace Rosalie to be on the six counties board. Mayor Fautin said that she is attending the meetings and she will represent the town. Milo questioned the south central bill. It was explained that the internet and phone was needed for the town work that Wendy does at her home. She pays half of the bill and the town pays half of the bill. Kristie asked if the town could have internet at the community center. Wendy will check into the costs involved in getting it for the community center. Jeff Knowles reminded the town board of the monthly emergency management meeting.
