Early Light Academy Board Meeting Minutes Friday, March 16, 2018 Location: Early Light Academy, 11709 S. Vadania Drive, South Jordan, UT 84095 In Attendance: Stephanie Schmidt, Kevin Swiss, Eric Montague Not in Attendance: Andrea Johnson, David Bourne Others in Attendance: Sydney Young (Director), Kim Dohrer, Brad Taylor, Trish Trammell, Keiley Bradshaw MINUTES 8:49 AM CALLED TO ORDER by Stephanie Schmidt There was no public comment. REPORTS - Director's Report- Sydney Young, Director, went over academic data, including mid-year testing; debt ratio and financials; Own and Share our Story; accreditation. - Board Reports- Financial Summary: Brad Taylor reviewed the budget and reported that it looks good and is on track. He also reviewed recent legislative changes. CONSENT ITEMS Eric Montague made a motion to approve the consent items as listed below. Kevin Swiss seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous and motion passed. - Approve January 19, 2018 Board Meeting Minutes - Approve February 23, 2018 Electronic Board Meeting Minutes - Ratify New Employees o Mid-year Hires: Stacey Clark, Goran Golemba, Jenni Dickerson, William Lickiss, Kelli Walker, Sherrie Tucker, Brandon Anderson o Next-year Hires: Kirstin Whitehead, Melissa Simar, Kristina Ferrin, Rebecca Kern, Dana Thompson, Brooke Tate, Jenn Jellum BUSINESS ITEMS Eric Montague made a motion to approve the business items as listed below. Kevin Swiss seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous and motion passed. - Discuss and/or Vote to Approve 2018-2019 School LAND Trust Committee, Budget and Plan, and Report on Progress of 2017-2018 Plan- The Committee consists of the Board of Directors. - Discuss and/or Vote on Substitute Teacher Policy - Rescind Facilities Usage Policy DISCUSSION ITEMS - Board Member Terms Discussion - There are no anticipated changes for 2018-2019. - National School Lunch Program - The Board is in support of moving forward and participating in the National School Lunch Program. - Calendaring: o Accreditation Visit: March 28-29, 2018 o UAPCS: June 13-14, 2018 o 2017-2018 Board Meeting Dates: April 20, 2018, May 18, 2018, June 8, 2018 (Electronic), June 29, 2018 (Annual) Eric Montague made a motion at 10:15am to go into a Closed Session to discuss an individual's character, professional competence, or physical or mental health. Kevin Swiss seconded the motion. Voting was as follows: Stephanie Schmidt- Aye, Eric Montague- Aye, Kevin Swiss- Aye. Andrea Johnson and David Bourne were not in attendance. Voting was unanimous and motion passed. CLOSED SESSION to discuss an individual's character, professional competence, or physical or mental health. Kevin Swiss made a motion at 10:18am to return to open session and adjourn the board meeting. Eric Montague seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous and motion passed. ADJOURN
