- PUBLIC NOTICE Notice is hereby given to inform Garland City Residents that there will be a municipal election this year for 2 City Council positions ( 4-year terms) and Mayor ( 4 year term) starting January 2018 to January 2022. Interested persons may file for office between June 1, 2017 and June 7, 2017 in person with a Declaration of Candidacy Form or Nominating Petition at the City Recorder's Office between 8 am and 5 pm at 72 North Main Street, Garland UT 84312. Candidates must meet the following qualifications: 1. Be a United States Citizen. 2. Be a registered voter of the municipality. 3. Be at least 18 years old at the time of the election. 4. Be a legal resident of the municipality for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election. 5. Any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to vote or hold elective office is restored as provided by statute. If more than two candidates file for each position, a primary will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. ___________________________________ Sharlet Anderson, City Recorder
