Description/Agenda
Bicycle Transit Center Planning Project Public Open House
What:The Utah Transit Authority is hosting a public open house to discuss the Bicycle Transit Center Planning Project. The purpose of the project is to increase bicycle use as a viable transportation option by making bicycling more convenient and appealing to the public.
When:Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Ogden transit Center at 2393 Wall Ave., Ogden
Info: The open house is hosted by UTA, along with co-sponsors Salt Lake City, the Utah Department of Transportation, and the Salt Lake City Mayor's Bicycle Advisory Committee.
A bicycle transit center is more than a few bike racks. It's a resource that reinvents the park-and-ride lot for bicycle transportation. Bicycle transit centers could feature secure indoor bike parking, bicycle repairs, bike rentals, showers, a shop for bike accessories and refreshments, and cycling information including maps, classes, registration and more. A bicycle transit center has the ability to add more cyclists to streets and to transit like no other public amenity can.
