DIMPLE DELL ADVISORY BOARD
Minutes of 2/10/16 Meeting
1. Meeting was called to order by Terry Wood at 6:58 PM. Attending: Pat Wilson, David Maiorano, Harry Webster, Terry Wood, John Shakula, Spencer Mortensen, Doris Richards, Diana van Uitert,
Wayne Johnson, Ty Harrison, Scott Spackeen, John Farrell, Sherrie Robertson, Jared Campbell. Guests: Tuesday Roby (REI), & Korban Lee (Sandy City).
2. Correction to last month's minutes - Sherrie Robertson's name was misspelled. Minutes were approved.
3. Sandy Adventure Week activities were presented by Korban Lee and Tuesday Roby. The goal of the activities for the week is to encourage residents to get outside & enjoy the Sandy area. Activities planned for Dimple Dell include volunteer work (such as trail clean-up) and several trail run events. John Shakula moved to approve the volunteer service work in the park Jared Campbell seconded the motion. Motion passed. Jared moved to approve the trail run event stipulating that the run stays on maintained trails, signage will be posted at trail heads, monitors will be stationed along the route, trail is to be cleaned up after the run, and county requirements will be adhered to. Harry Webster seconded the motion. Motion passed. Tuesday Roby requested permission for REI to conduct classes on compass & map navigation in the park again this year. Harry Webster moved to approve continuation of the classes for 2016. Doris Richards seconded the motion. Motion passed.
4. Update on ZAP proposal. Ty Harrison, Doris Richards, Diana van Uitert presented the Visitor Orientation Center proposal to the ZAP board. A decision by the board will not be made for several months. Diana urged board members to contact County Council members to lobby for the proposal.
5. Update on Sandy Overlay Zone. Terry Wood indicated that there were efforts to find incentives to encourage developers to develop land outside of the park area.
6. County Report. Wayne Johnson reported that progress is being made on getting trail head signs that identify the hierarchy of trail right of way.
7. Meeting was adjourned at 8:15. Next meeting will be 3/9/16.
