Springville Public Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting
Board Meeting Room, located on the 2nd Floor of the Springville Library
July 10, 2014, 7:00 p.m.
Present: Jenette Swain, Janet Johnson, Ann Kronmiller, Marilee Allred, Betsy Hopkins, Karen Ellingson, Joey Franklin, Keith Leatham, Pam Vaughn, Kim Christensen.
• Approval of July Agenda:
a. July agenda approved with addition of librarian report during directors report.
b. Karen Ellingson moves to approve. Janet seconds. Unanimously approved.
• Foundation Report, Roger Layton
a. There is a woman who is interested in organizing a crèche exhibit.
• Friends of the Library Report, Jenette Swain
Book Sale Results
a. The library sale was a success. We made $3000. No bank statements available at this meeting.
b. Discussed the value of and desire to keep sale in conjunction with Art City Days.
c. Labeling tables and having white board with prices was helpful.
d. Signage worked well. Will put price of books on signs for next year.
e. Pam confirms that we should have sale twice a year (June during Art City Days, and in November).
f. Recommendation made to have sale-specific email sent out via library email listserv.

• Update on activities and/or issues at the library.
• Visit from librarian to report.
a.Report on upcoming "Star Wars Reads," activity. This will be in place of Halloween activity. Activity for kids, teens, and adults.
b. Pam reported on discussion and regional library visits with Bruce
c. Report on success of ongoing summer reading program.
d. Report on new hires.
e. Discussion about success of old-time fiddlers. The positive addition of food trucks.
f. Need to children's librarian (previous librarian took job at SLC main library). Job posted.
g. Part-time librarian recently hired.
h. Brief discussion about getting more involved in coordinating and supporting local book clubs.

Chris not present.
• Other Discussion Items
a. Review of current policy on allowing family members to check out books for other family members.
b. Discussion of ideas on how to make policies clearer to patrons.
