NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING UTAH TRANSIT AUTHORITY RE: Proposed August 2014 Service Changes. UTA is proposing several service changes to local bus service in Utah County. Public hearings will be held to discuss these proposed changes. The locations will be: Utah County: Provo City Library at Academy Square, 550 North University Ave., Bullock Room #309 Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. At the hearings, the Utah Transit Authority will provide an opportunity for citizens, private transportation providers, public officials and interested agencies to comment on the proposed changes. To be included as part of the Public Hearing record, all comments must be postmarked or received by UTA no later than May 17, 2014. The format for the Utah County Public Hearing will be as follows: Open house to review and discuss proposal with UTA representatives (First 30 minutes) Presentation by UTA representative regarding proposal (immediately following Open House) Public comment period (immediately following presentation). Proposals are as follows: UTA is proposing several service changes dependent upon operational feasibility and financial limitations. The changes are designed to improve bus routes. Also, some other concerns such as low ridership, timing and routing adjustments need to be made for a more efficient operating local bus system. Utah County Proposals * Route 833 a fixed route local service to be replaced with a flex route service and some alignment changes. * Route 836 a fixed route local service to be replaced with a flex route service and some alignment changes. * Route 832 will have its alignment adjusted to better serve the Brigham Young University Campus and student housing areas. * Route 831 will be modified into two different routes, one to serve between the Utah Valley University campus and the Orem FrontRunner station, the other to serve mostly the same area south of UVU to the Provo FrontRunner station with some alignment changes. * Route 840 a new route, servicing portions of the interior of the UVU campus is proposed. * Route 853 will be modified into more specific routes to better serve the area between Lehi FrontRunner station and businesses in the Thanksgiving Point area and east of Thanksgiving Point along State Road 92. By establishing three new bus routes: Rt 864, Rt 865, Rt 867. * Additional small adjustments to all schedules as needed. Additional information items: Changes being proposed will be finalized after the public hearing comment period ends May 17, 2014 and will be ready to start operating as part of the Aug. 17, 2014 change day. Informational items: Relevant information about the proposed changes will be available at the Public Hearing or may be reviewed at the UTA Orem office, 1110 South Geneva Road, until May 17, 2014. Comments on proposed changes must be postmarked or received by UTA no later than 5 p.m. May 17, 2014 to be part of the Public Hearing record. Michael Allegra General Manager
