PUBLIC NOTICE
On October 25, 2013, the Department of Labor certified all workers of FLSmidth, Financial Services Division, Midvale, Utah who became totally or partially separated from employment on or after September 5, 2012 and before October 25, 2015 as eligible to apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) under the Trade Adjustment Assistance Extension Act of 2011. The company workers are engaged in activities related to the supply of financial services (i.e. accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable.)
In order to receive Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA), workers must, without exception, be enrolled in approved training by the later of (a) the last day of the 26th week of their qualified separation date or (b) the last day of the 26th week after the date of certification or have a waiver from the training enrollment requirement.
Affected workers may qualify for Training, Job Search, and Relocation Allowances even if they do not qualify for weekly Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA). Affected workers, over 50+ years of age, may choose the RTAA program. This is a wage replacement subsidy for full time re-employment that pays less than $50,000 a year and less than their former trade affected wage. If part time employment of at least 20 hours a week is obtained, full time training may still be available along with the wage subsidy.
Trade Act also provides for a Health Coverage Tax Credit program (HCTC) for qualified individuals who meet the TRA requirements and are receiving a payment during the month from UI/TRA benefits. For additional information, go to the website: http://www.irs.gov/hctc or call the HCTC Customer Contact Center toll-free 1-866-HCTC (1-866-628-4282). Note: The HCTC program will expire as of December 31, 2013. As of October 1, 2013, the HCTC Program has stopped accepting new registrations. Individuals who meet all HCTC eligibility requirements and pay premiums directly to their qualified health plan during 2013 can claim the Yearly HCTC by filing Form 8885, Health Coverage Tax Credit, with their 2013 federal income tax return.
If you have any questions, please contact Alice Edman, TRA Coordinator at (801) 526-9218 or Lindsay Crosby, TAA Coordinator at (801) 726-8094.
