Attending: Executive Committee Members: Matt Brown, Jim Sorenson, Dirk Clayson, and Nina Laycook. Others in Attendance: Kelly Stowell, Jim Matson, Rob Van Dyke, and Tom Forsythe. Presiding: Matt Brown Minutes: Kelly Stowell 2. Reports and Minutes: Matt Brown, CEBAIA Board Chairman, identified a quorum and called the meeting to order to start the meeting. The board meeting agenda included: Approve minutes for June 5, 2012 CEBAIA Board Meeting. AGENDA Approve Common Consent Agenda. Review and approve CEBAIA Finance Report. CEBA Executive Director Report. CEBA Interlocal Agency Agreement. Digital Media. Grand to Grand. Other. CEBA financial reports were presented to the board and it was reported that the remaining fundshave been received for the Department of Community and Culture grant and from Utah Office of Tourism for the Little Hollywood Shootout. CEBA Director, Kelly Stowell reported he attended the International Film Location convention in Los Angeles. It was reported the USDA grant is progressing and a final copy of the grant will be submitted in June. A lengthy discussion took place about the current CEBA structure and how it can be improved to reflect changes to CEBA program direction. CEBA structure and strategic partnerships need to be looked at especially at the state level with Economic Development Corporation of Utah and possibly other Higher Education Institutions. It was discussed that a standing agenda item with Kanab Economic Development be included on the CEBA board meeting agenda. It was reported the Kane County Economic Development team is meeting weekly and consists of the Volunteer Center, Kane County Office of Tourism, Economic Development and CEBA. Cowboy Poetry Rodeo during Western Legends: The poets are traveling to the Kane County fair to do a show at the pavilion behind the Orderville City Office in conjunction with the fair dance and fireworks show. The rodeo needs assistance for the 2012 event and CEBA is supporting this event for one more year. CEBA applied for a grant from the Utah Division of Arts and Museums to help with funding for the event in March and we will find out if the funds were approved by the end of July. 2012 DOCUTAH: DOCUTAH film festival was discussed and is taking place September 5-8, in Kanab, and this crossover event benefits both CEBA digital media and arts goals. A day will be dedicated to an arts-related documentary with supplemental activities held at the Bingham Galley/Maynard Dixon Home in Mt. Carmel. Plans are underway to screen “Running the Sahara,” on Saturday, September 8, at the park. Plans for a local trails clean-up day will be held in-conjunction with the “Running the Sahara” documentary screening to generate awareness and excitement for the Grand to Grand Ultra-Marathon Challenge. Plans for a trail running event are still in the works for Saturday morning, on the day of the screening for “Running the Sahara” documentary. “Running the Sahara” is a main event in Kanab, but is not a part of DOCUTAH any more due to a funding decision. Every effort will be made by local planners of DOCUTAH functions to be done in world class style and execution. The Grand to Grand Ultra Marathon Challenge is taking place the week of September 23-29. The ultra-marathon challenge covers 160 miles and Kanab is serving as the hub for the event. Ray Zahab and the rest of the G2G crew is planning to come to Utah towards the end of July or early August, and a discussion took place about event t-shirts for the local community. Proceeds from the sales of the t-shirts will go towards projects for the development of Kane County hiking/running trails. There are several areas where CEBA is providing support and helping to organize and provide support for the marathon challenge. It was also discussed an informational packet be sent to local businesses and community members to let folks know the event is taking place. 3. Action Items Matt Brown made a motion to approve the common consent agenda. The motion was seconded by Dirk Clayson and the motion passed. Matt Brown made a motion to approve the financial report the CEBA financial report and seconded by Nina Laycook. A motion was made to adjourn the meeting and the meeting was adjourned.
