Minutes of Oak City Town Planning and Zoning Public Hearing and Regular Meeting
August 19, 2026
The meetings were held at the Oak City Town Hall located at 30 West Center beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The following attended:
Town Officials Others
Chairperson Colin Christensen Dave and DeAnn Steele
Member Kendall Dewsnup-Absent Camron Nielson Member Mason Anderson Jayson Kooyman
Member Tina Anderson Russell and Denise Dewsnup
Member Lydia Bennett
Deputy Clerk Karen K. Lovell
The Public Hearing began with an invocation by Mason. The purpose of the Public Hearing was to take public comment regarding the subdivision of the real property affecting parcels: 3027, 3027-1, o-3028-4(partial) and O-3028-4-2. Approximately 200 N 250 E Oak City.
Dave Steele had brought maps that he showed on the screen for the Commission and public to look through on the Subdivision. Jason Kooyman asked if there wouldn't have to be a cul-de-sac put in? DeAnn stated that that section of the subdivision is in the County so a cul-de-sac does not need to be put in. Colin pointed out that at some point there will need to be a turn-around but the Town doesn't want a paved cul-de-sac as the Town might want the road to be a through street in the future. Jason wondered why Jon Finlinson had to pave is road then. It was pointed out that his road was within Town limits.
Mason asked about the end of 200 North. Will it be a hard-stopped road. Colin stated that this road will also be allowed to continue if the Town wants to have it a through street.
Dave stated that there will be four new fire hydrants put in.
There was no further public comment.
Chairperson Christensen adjourned the meeting at 7:18 p.m.

C. Miscellaneous.
Dave and DeAnn Steele.
What do they need to do now? They can't sell lots until the subdivision has been filed.
Dave pointed out that they are already behind in their timeline as the Planning and Zoning
Commission Meetings were cancelled for the last couple of months due to lack of a quorum. They are hoping things can be expedited and they can have a little leniency now.
The Steele's have also come up with some ideas on addresses.
The probably can't get the road asphalted until next Spring. They should be able to do the road build up, however.
The Steeles would like to choose the option to present a Guarantee of Completion to the Town which they believe has never been done in Oak City before. Collin will talk to the Mayor about this and get back to the Steeles within 4 or 5 days on this idea.
Chair Christensen.
Was going to have a short training session at each meeting but decided this would not be too good to do at a public meeting so a few days before each meeting, he will send out some Codes and issues for the Commission to study before each meeting. These can then be discussed at the meeting if desired.
D. Adjournment.
Commission Chair Christensen adjourned the meeting at 7:34 p.m.
