PUBLIC HEARING
OLD SPRING SITE/WATER STUDY AND ADDITIONAL TANK INSTALL PROJECT
CIB PLANNING GRANT WITH 50% MATCH
The Board shared the following information with the public and then opened the floor for questions and comments.
-Purpose and Benefits: Thompson Special Service District has additional water rights located up Thompson Canyon that are not currently being utilized. We have been working with the BLM in order for us to redevelop the Old Spring Site. This study will enable us to move forward in planning for future water needs for our District and put our water rights to work for us. At this time there is no increase in fees anticipated other than those set forth in our Rules of Operation over the next 4 years.
Project Scope: Environmental efforts are needed to prepare for the anticipated construction project next year and include: Cultural Resources Surveys; Aquatic Resources Delineation; Protected Plant Species Surveys; Environmental Assessment; and Biological Assessment.
The timeline for this CIB Grant looks like this: Application is due October 1. We are working with Jones & DeMille Engineering. Funding consideration: December or January CIB meeting. It is possible that we could receive approval prior to that as our requested amount is small compared to other requests they receive. The anticipated award would be late Winter.
-50% Match required The project cost is $30,000 and the District is required to match 50% of the cost. We have money in our PTIF General Fund to cover that match. That money was set aside from our loadout sales that exceeded our anticipated revenue.
- Opened Floor to the Public There were no questions. The comment made was that it was good to be looking ahead and to be prepared for what is coming in the future.
The Board then moved into their regular monthly meeting.
