APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: April 10, 2012 – Policy Session
PRESENTATIONS:
1. PRESENTATION TO THE CLEARFIELD HIGH SCHOOL CYBERPATRIOT TEAM
BACKGROUND: AFJROTC students from Clearfield High School recently competed in the National High School Cyber Defense Championship competition in Washington DC. The competition is part of the Annual Cyber Futures Conference hosted by the National Air Force Association and is sponsored by Northrop-Grumman. There were several brackets of competition allowing teams to advance and Clearfield High’s team of students and instructors placed third in the nation.
2. PRESENTATION BY HILL AIR FORCE BASE (HAFB) REGARDING THE AIR SHOW
BACKGROUND: Lt. Col Juris Janson, 75th Operations Support Squadron Commander and 2012 Air Show Event Coordinator, and Mr. Kevin Ireland, Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce and Top of Utah Military Affairs Committee Air Show Coordinator, have requested time to address the City Council about its involvement with the Open House/Air Show scheduled for May 26 & 27, 2012.
3. PRESENTATION PROVIDING INFORMATION ABOUT THE NATIONAL GUARD’S COMMUNITY COVENANT PROGRAM
BACKGROUND: Lieutenant Ear Simmons, Community Covenant Team Leader, will provide information to the Council regarding the Community Covenant Program which provides support to all military service members.

5. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A PROCLAMATION DECLARING THE MONTH OF MAY AS FOSTER CARE MONTH
BACKGROUND: Clearfield City has many residents providing a safe, secure and stable home to numerous children and youth as foster families. These families open their homes to children whose families are in crisis and play a vital role in helping children and families reconnect.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Mayor’s signature to the Proclamation officially declaring the month of May as Foster Care Month in Clearfield City.
6. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A PROCLAMATION DECLARING APRIL 27, 2012 AS ARBOR DAY
BACKGROUND: Clearfield City will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 27, 2012. The City supports all efforts to plant and protect trees within its boundaries because trees are valuable to the City’s environment. Clearfield has received the “Tree City USA” designation for the past 16 years. Community Services Director, Eric Howes, requests the date of April 27, 2012, be officially declared “Arbor Day” in the City of Clearfield.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Mayor’s signature to the Proclamation officially declaring April 27, 2012 as “Arbor Day” in the City of Clearfield.
