Description/Agenda
Cannonville Town E M E R G E N C Y Council Meeting Minutes SEPTEMBER 2026 Cannonvillle town held an EMERGENCY Town Council Mtg September 7, 2026, in the town Hall. The meeting began at 7:00pm. Public in Attendance: Klinton Cheynoweth, Pete Jensen Board Members: Stewart Ivie, Alma Fletcher, Landyn Brinkerhoff, ZOOM, Mayor Bill Scoffield, Davis Kendrick; Machele Nelson, clerk Mayor's Items: The Paria river flooding on the night of August 31, 2026 completely undercut about 40' of support material of the 8' filtered water supply line to the tanks breaking it and dropping it into the river bottom. Subsequently the tanks emptied over 450,000 gallons of filtered water in a couple of hours, and eventually the well shut off leaving the town without water. Notices were made and agencies helped evaluate the incident, including issuing a boil order. The county emergency response team indicated a resolution declaring a town emergency was necessary for in applying for repair monies. Accordingly, Town resolution 2026-4 was prepared as instructed, read and reviewed by the town council and a vote was taken to adopt. Motion to adopt by Davis Kendrick, 2nd by Stewart Ivie, all in favor. A follow-on discussion was headed by Alma Fletcher, among others, about a possible fix so that the direct line from the well to the tanks could be restored as soon as possible. Pressures and friction losses were discussed. It would become a 'self-help' project with several folks invited to supply equipment and labor. The discussion was tabled for more research. Adjourned: 7:24 pm; next meeting September 16, 2026, 7pm; motion to adjourn by Davis Kendrick, 2nd by Alma Fletcher; all approved.
