4. BOARD WRITTEN UPDATES (Review and ask questions as needed in Board Comments)
a) Henefer Civic Center Public Art & Pianos Update
Barrus Pianos tuned the county collection in July. We are working to develop the RFP for the Newpark Piano (theme is Swaner Nature) and Henefer Piano (theme is History and Honor in Henefer. This theme includes the profound relationship with Chief Washakie, its pioneer spirit and ranching community, and the patriotic spirit of the 4th of July celebration). The RFP is drafted and we have received confirmation of a donated piano from Barus in late October. We will work to have the RFP reviewed and release the RFP (artwork is $1,000/piano). In July, we received the $500 grant for Piano performances from Sunrise Rotary. We received recent reports that one of the pianos at the Kimball Junction Transit Center needs additional repairs and are investigating next steps.
b) Quilted Together Project
Waiting to confirm when the signage for the artwork will be installed. The signage will be placed directly adjacent to the artwork.
c) Peak Building Project
The County Manager supported the boards direction to focus on the Main Lobby regarding public art at the Peak Building. Based on additional updates from the August meeting, the board agreed to expand the area to the hallway leading to the auditorium and the wall space in the entry area. We are working to get measurements and details so we can complete the RFP.
d) Summit County Fair Volunteer Opportunities
Megan and Bob recommended artworks to the County Council at the County Fair. We are waiting to hear from the County on the final artworks and hope to have an update at the October meeting.
e) Silver Summit Services Building Benches Update
The RFP was released with the changes the board requested and is due on September 25. We have done outreach making sure that the artists who previously applied are aware of the RFP and sent out to many artist contacts. The board will review submissions at the October meeting.
