Description/Agenda
VERNAL CITY PUBLIC HEARING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2026 AT 6:00 PM VERNAL CITY HALL - COUNCIL CHAMBERS 374 E MAIN ST, VERNAL, UT NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing of the Vernal City Council will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to consider applications for funding to the Permanent Community Impact Fund Board (CIB) of the State of Utah for the following projects: Highway 40 Buffered Parking and Pedestrian Safety Project - This project is part of the redevelopment of the Vernal Community Block, located between Highway 40 and 100 South and between 100 East and 200 East. The proposed project includes realigning the curb and gutter along Highway 40 to provide parallel parking with additional space between parked vehicles and highway traffic, allowing motorists to safely and comfortably enter and exit their vehicles. The project also includes relocating the existing Hybrid Pedestrian Beacon, currently located one block east, to provide a signalized pedestrian crossing of Highway 40 adjacent to the Community Block. 600 and 650 North Waterline Replacement and Storage Tank Feed Line Project - This project will replace undersized water lines in areas that have required frequent repairs and improve the connection to the City's water storage system. Approximately 8,500 feet of existing 6-inch waterline will be replaced in the Glenbrook Subdivision area, along with associated water services, meter barrels, valves, and fire hydrants. The project also includes construction of a new dedicated feed line from 3500 West to the City's 5-million-gallon water storage tank. The new feed line is intended to improve circulation and mixing within the tank and help maintain water freshness and overall system reliability. The public is invited to offer comments regarding the proposed projects and the submission of the CIB funding applications at the public hearing. Any questions regarding the projects or submission of the applications should be directed to Keith Despain, Public Works Director, 374 East Main Street, Vernal, Utah, (435) 789-2255. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals needing special accommodations during this meeting should notify Sara Bell, City Recorder, at (435) 789-2255 at least five days before the hearing.
